About the Author
Hello and welcome! I’m Jacob Quinn Johnson, a storyteller at heart, shaped by a lively childhood and a love for books and movies that transported me to magical worlds. I grew up in a bustling Seattle suburb as the middle child of five boys—our house was never quiet, always brimming with chaos and adventure. From an early age, my imagination was fueled by stories that brought magic into the ordinary, like the Harry Potter series, where a hidden world of wonder could unfold if you just stopped to look. I also found inspiration in books like East of Eden by John Steinbeck, which explored the complexity of family, love, and redemption. Stories like these sparked a deep passion in me for exploring connection and human resilience, themes that now shape my own writing.
My childhood, while filled with its share of blessings, was far from perfect. I was born with underdeveloped parts of my brain due to my birth mother’s substance use, leading to challenges that shaped much of my early years. Struggles with abandonment, a turbulent divorce, and a period in conversion therapy added layers of trauma to my life. Yet, even through these difficulties, I found solace and hope in the pages of books. Stories became my refuge, my way of creating new worlds and giving myself a voice when reality felt overwhelming. Those early experiences are the foundation of the stories I write today—stories centered on connection, love, and hope.
As I grew, I began a lifelong journey of reconnecting with myself, a process of discovery that continues to this day. I’ve channeled these moments of growth and awe into my stories, embedding themes of finding deeper meaning, building relationships, and believing in the power of small acts to spark big changes.
It’s these themes that guide my work, and I hope my stories resonate with you. Thank you for stepping into the worlds I’ve created—worlds filled with love, connection, and most importantly, hope.

Works – TV Series

In a world devastated by environmental collapse and the aftermath of the Enlighten Wars, magic—once the heartbeat of civilisation—has been sealed away. Now, as the planet faces its final days, ancient forces stir once more. Rise of the Mages follows five young individuals across the globe, each with a latent connection to one of the primal elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. When Griffin, an immortal mage with a tragic past, awakens their powers, he leads them to the hidden city of Estema, a mystical sanctuary buried beneath the Sahara sands. There, the young mages are trained to master their gifts, but as they grow in power, so too do their doubts about Griffin’s true motives. The group is divided by betrayal, distrust, and the weight of their pasts, and as global chaos escalates, they must decide whether to unite or face the apocalypse alone.
The show blends intense action with deep character exploration, offering a fresh take on the fantasy genre. As in Shadow and Bone and The Witcher, the series features a rich, immersive world where magic and myth collide with the harsh realities of a decaying world. Themes of power, trust, and the consequences of progress drive the narrative, while the elemental abilities of each mage bring high-stakes action and tension to every episode. At its core, the series is a coming-of-age story about five individuals forced to confront their inner demons and decide what kind of world they want to fight for.
With echoes of The Magicians and Mortal Kombat, Rise of the Mages is an epic, fast-paced adventure about harnessing magic, challenging authority, and battling for the future of humanity. In a world on the edge of collapse, these five mages must master their powers, face their darkest truths, and unlock the ancient forces that can save or destroy them all.
